Wandayi asema Ruto aliamuru EPRA isiongeze bei za parafini

Waziri wa Nishati na Mafuta Opiyo Wandayi amesema Rais William Ruto aliamuru EPRA isiongeze bei za parafini licha ya ongezeko la bei za petroli na dizeli. Anasema maagizo haya yanalenga kulinda kaya za kipato cha chini. Aidha, serikali imeweka ruzuku ya Ksh6.2 bilioni na kupunguza VAT ya mafuta.

Waziri wa Nishati na Mafuta Opiyo Wandayi alizungumza Siaya County, Ugunja, siku ya Jumatano, Aprili 15, 2026, wakati wa mazoezi ya usajili wa wapiga kura. Alisisitiza kuwa Rais William Ruto aliamuru EPRA isiongeze bei za parafini ili kulinda kaya zinazotegemea parafini kwa kupikia na taa.

Kulingana na EPRA, katika mapitio ya Aprili-Mei 2026 yaliyotangazwa Aprili 14, bei ya petroli Super iliongezeka kwa Ksh28.69 kwa lita, dizeli kwa Ksh40.30 kwa lita, huku parafini ikabaki bila mabadiliko. Wandayi alisema ongezeko hili lilingekuwa kubwa zaidi bila ruzuku ya Ksh6.2 bilioni iliyoagizwa na Rais.

“Jana mmeona ongezeko la bei za mafuta, lakini nataka niwaambie, msijali,” alisema Wandayi. Aliongeza kuwa serikali imepunguza VAT ya mafuta kutoka 16% hadi 13% kwa miezi mitatu ili kupunguza athari za bei za juu.

Wandayi aliahidi kuwa bei za mafuta zitapungua mara vita vya Mashariki ya Kati (vita vya U.S./Israel-Iran) vitakapoisha. Wamiliki wa magari ya umma (PSV) wametangaza ongezeko la nafasi kwa angalau 25%.
