In a new 'Ask the Developer' interview released by Nintendo on Tuesday, the team behind Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream discussed challenges in creating quirky Mii behaviors, including flatulence. Developer Takahashi noted a team debate: 'Some people found it hilarious, while others thought it was a bit vulgar. After talking it over, we ended up making it a little quirk.' Players can choose to add this trait or not. Minegishi added that the group 'obsessed over getting the sound just right,' with Ueno mentioning numerous retakes. Kageyama recalled early visual effects resembling 'an explosion going off.' The game's reveal trailer features a Mii farting on the beach, signaling the final version satisfied the team. Development spanned nearly a decade, with six or seven years on customizing Miis, pets, and buildings. The developers preserved the avatars' charm by avoiding a more realistic redesign and retained their independent personalities. A drag-and-drop feature, initially for debugging, was kept after the team grew fond of it.
