Ruto anasema mabilionea wa Afrika wajayo watakuwa wakulima

Rais William Ruto amewahimiza Waafrika kuchukua kilimo kwa umakini, akisema kuwa mabilionea wa Afrika wajayo watatoka wakulima. Alizungumza katika Mkutano wa Ushirikiano wa Mashariki huko Diani, Kaunti ya Kwale, usiku wa Ijumaa. Anategemea ukuaji wa idadi ya watu na soko kubwa la Afrika.

"Nilimwambiwa na rais wa zamani wa Benki ya Maendeleo ya Afrika kuwa mabilionea wa siku zijazo watakuwa wakulima. Ndiyo maana nina jaribu kilimo mwenyewe," alisema Ruto.

Anategemea kuwa Afrika itakuwa na robo ya idadi ya watu duniani ifikapo 2050, ikiwa na takriban bilioni 2.5. Hii inatoa changamoto ya kutoa chakula na ajira, hasa kwa vijana ambao theluthi moja ya milioni 420 wako bila kazi au hawajakata tamaa.

Afrika ina theluthi mbili ya ardhi yenye kuongezeka duniani, na Ukubaliano wa Biashara Huria ya Bara la Afrika utaunda soko kubwa zaidi duniani, alisema Ruto. Kenya haina bilionea wa dola iliyothibitishwa, ingawa ina watu 125 hadi 130 wenye mali zaidi ya dola milioni 30.
