Hazina imetoa zabuni nyingi za mamilioni ya shilingi ili kukodisha angalau magari 600 ya umeme na mseto kwa matumizi ya serikali. Malori hiyo inahamasisha NPS, KPS na wengine. Hii ni hatua kubwa katika mpito wa usafiri safi nchini Kenya.

Hazina imetoa zabuni ya kitaifa iliyofunguliwa kwa ajili ya kukodisha angalau magari 600 ya umeme na mseto chini ya programu ya Kukodisha Magari ya Serikali. Malori hiyo inalenga huduma mbalimbali kama NPS, KPS, huduma za utawala wa serikali na wizara zingine.

Kulingana na hati za zabuni, magari yanajumuisha magari ya umeme ya abiria 4x2 na 4x4, piki za umeme zenye nyumba mbili na magari ya mseto yanayofaa barabarani na nje ya barabara. Zabuni nyingine ni ya kuchaji 70 za DC zenye kasi ili kuhakikisha miundombinu inafuata magari. Mabidhaa yanapaswa kuwasilishwa kupitia mfumo wa eGP na kuambatana na dhamana ya Ksh5,000,000.

Programu hii ilianzishwa mwaka 2013 ili kupunguza gharama za awali na kuhamishia hatari za matengenezo kwa sekta binafsi. Hii inafuata kampeni ya serikali ya e-mobility, ikiwa ni pamoja na bosti za namba za kijani na Davis Chirchir, ambaye alizitangaza Februari kama ishara ya kujitolea kupunguza uzalishaji wa kaboni.

Kenya Power imeripoti ongezeko la matumizi ya umeme wa magari ya umeme hadi kWh 8,433,437 mwaka 2025 kutoka 2,922,692 mwaka 2024, na mapato yakipanda hadi Ksh125.9 milioni.
