The Teachers Service Commission will honour 300 teachers from each Kenyan county through the Wajibika Award for transparency and performance.
The Teachers Service Commission is set to recognise 300 teachers from each county under the Wajibika Award. The initiative falls under the Public Service Commission and seeks to highlight educators who show high levels of transparency, integrity and accountability.
A memo dated May 4 and signed by Acting CEO Evaleen Mitei sets the criteria. Teachers must achieve TPAD scores of 95 per cent and above for six consecutive terms from Term 2 2024 to Term 1 2026. They must also submit mean scores from KCSE and KCPE exams between 2023 and 2025.
School heads need performance scores of 90 per cent or higher over three years and pending bills below 5 per cent. Two secondary and two primary heads per county will be considered along with one primary and one secondary school. Regional and county directors must submit all data by 4pm on May 8.
