Mwanzilishi wa Utumishi Girls ataka serikali ikomeshe shule za bweni

Edward Mbugua, mwanzilishi wa Utumishi Girls Senior School, ameitaka serikali kukomesha mfumo wa shule za bweni baada ya moto ulioua wanafunzi 16.

Mbugua, aliyekuwa Naibu Inspekta Jenerali wa Polisi, alitoa wito huu wakati wa misa ya mazishi huko Gilgil mnamo Ijumaa, Juni 12.

Alipendekeza shule za mchana ziimarishwe ili wazazi wasichague shule za mbali na nyumbani. Alisema mabweni yaweze kubadilishwa kuwa warsha za mafunzo.

Mbugua alikubali kuwajibika kwa msiba huo na kuwalaumu wajumbe wa bodi ya usimamizi kwa kukosa kutoa malalamiko kuhusu ukosefu wa vifaa. Alipendekeza pia mfumo wa shule za wavulana na wasichana uachwe.

Data kutoka Kenya Red Cross inaonyesha visa 47 vya moto katika shule tangu Januari 2026, huku watu 187 wakihitaji matibabu.
