ViX blames Prime Video for 2026 World Cup transmission failures

ViX attributed interruptions during the Uzbekistan versus Colombia match of the 2026 World Cup to Amazon Prime Video. The Federal Consumer Protection Agency requested explanations from the platform after receiving user complaints.

On Wednesday, June 17, minutes before the match at Estadio Ciudad de México, Amazon Prime Video aired an incorrect signal on the ViX channel. The error persisted from 20:05 to 20:57 local time, according to a ViX statement released on Thursday, June 18.

ViX stated that 1.6 million people watched the game without issues through its app. The problem affected only subscribers who accessed the service via Amazon. The company said it remained in contact with Prime Video’s technical team to prevent failures in future matches.

Profeco reported receiving 36 complaint emails by 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. The agency contacted ViX to obtain a detailed report and reminded affected users they can file claims by phone or at quejas.telecom@profeco.gob.mx.
