Nutritionist reminds that quality of child nutrition matters more than quantity eaten

Esti Nurwanti stresses that children need balanced nutrient intake according to age to support growth and focus, not merely eating large amounts.

Nutritionist Esti Nurwanti stated that energy needs for children aged 6-9 years range from 1,400 to 1,650 kilocalories per day. For ages 10-15 years, the figure rises to 2,000 to 2,400 kilocalories per day based on Health Ministry Regulation Number 28 of 2019.

Esti explained that intake must include carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals in balance. She advised parents to read food package labels to select suitable products.

Actress Tasya Kamila added that regular physical activity helps children stay active and focused during growth years. The views were shared in Jakarta on 14 June 2026.
