Huejotzingo cider fair 2025 features tastings and holiday decorations

The 2025 Cider Fair in Huejotzingo, Puebla, blends artisanal cider traditions with holiday festivities at the Christmas Village. The event, which started on November 28, runs through December 31 and draws visitors with over 20 cider brands. Attendees can enjoy tastings, local products, and family attractions in the main square.

The 2025 Cider Fair takes place at Fray Juan de Alameda Square in Huejotzingo, a Magical Town in Puebla renowned for its artisanal cider production. This beverage, made from fermented apple juice with low alcohol content, traces its origins to the arrival of Franciscans in Mexico in 1900, with the first production noted in 1921. The event is integrated into the Christmas Village, featuring decorations such as a monumental tree, illuminated paths around the kiosk, and four themed stations: Duendilandia, Candyland, Enchanted Kingdom, and Santa Zone.

Andrea Morales, the local Secretary of Tourism and Culture, emphasized in a press conference that more than 20 brands and 30 producers will participate. In addition to traditional apple cider, variants flavored with pear, blueberry, passion fruit, and blackberry are available, all crafted artisanally. In August, the Intellectual Property Institute granted denomination of origin status to these ciders, acknowledging their distinctive quality. Visitors will also find artisanal liqueurs and conserves made with traditional recipes.

The fair operates daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with free admission. On December 21, it aligns with the lighting of the Christmas tree, adding extra appeal. This fair not only highlights local cuisine but also invites families to embrace the December holiday season in a festive and cultural setting.
