ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ አሕመድ (ዶ/ር) በ2018 በጀት ዓመት ከ1.4 ሚሊየን በላይ የውጭ ቱሪስቶች ኢትዮጵያን ጎብኝተዋል ብለዋል። ይህ አኃዝ ካለፈው ዓመት ጋር ሲነጻጸር ከ100 ሺህ በላይ ብልጫ አለው።
ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ በቱሪዝም ዘርፍ ላይ ባደረጉት ቃለ ምልልስ እንደተናገሩት በበጀት ዓመቱ ከ5.2 ቢሊየን ዶላር በላይ የውጭ ምንዛሪ ገቢ ተገኝቷል። ኢትዮጵያ 204 ዓለም አቀፍ ኮንፈረንሶችን አስተናግዳለች።
በእነዚህ ስብሰባዎች 166 ሺህ የውጭ እንግዶች ተሳትፈዋል። የቱሪስት ፍሰት ከ2016 በጀት ዓመት ጋር ሲነጻጸር ከ300 ሺህ በላይ ጨምሯል።
ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ በቱሪዝም የተገኘው ገቢ የኢትዮጵያን ዓመታዊ ገቢ ወደ 1.5 ትሪሊየን ብር ከፍ ለማድረግ ይረዳል ብለዋል። በ2018 በጀት ዓመት 10.2 በመቶ የኢኮኖሚ ዕድገት እንደሚጠበቅ አመልክተዋል።
