اعتقلت هيئة الأخلاقيات ومكافحة الفساد نائب كاتب المجلس ومدير المالية والحسابات في مجلس مقاطعة نياميرا في 30 يونيو. جاء الاعتقال عقب تحقيقات في إرساء مناقصة لبناء مجمع مكاتب على شركة لم تكن صاحبة العطاء الأقل تكلفة.أظهرت النتائج الأولية أن عملية الإرساء أدت إلى حصول المقاول على منفعة مالية غير قانونية مزعومة بقيمة 30 مليون شلن كيني. وتتعلق القضية بمخالفات في المشتريات حدثت بين مايو ويونيو 2018.تم إحالة ملف التحقيق إلى مدير النيابة العامة، الذي وافق على توجيه تهم إلى المسؤول وخمسة مشتبه بهم آخرين. وتشمل التهم إساءة استخدام السلطة، والفشل المتعمد في الامتثال للقوانين المتعلقة بإدارة الأموال العامة، والإهمال في أداء الواجب الوظيفي.مثل المسؤول أمام محاكم نياميرا. وبذلك يصل إجمالي عدد المسؤولين المحتجزين في هذه القضية إلى ثمانية، وذلك بعد اعتقال كاتب المقاطعة في وقت سابق بتاريخ 3 يونيو. وتواصل الهيئة جهودها للقبض على باقي المشتبه بهم.
