Profeco suspends eight establishments in CDMX and Edomex for irregularities

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) placed suspension seals on eight businesses in Mexico City and Metepec, State of Mexico, during a vacation operation for failing to respect prices and other violations of consumer protection law. The operation ran from December 19, 2025, to January 9, 2026, checking compliance in high-traffic areas. Affected include pharmacies, a cantina, and stores in the Historic Center.

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) reported that, as part of the 'Vacational and Tourist December 2025' verification and surveillance operation, conducted from December 19, 2025, to January 9, 2026, it placed eight suspension seals on establishments in Mexico City and Metepec, State of Mexico. During the 141 verification visits, violations were detected such as not respecting displayed prices, lack of clear information on sales terms, unauthorized roundings, and selling expired products.

The affected businesses include: GWM Automobile Agency in Tlalpan for not respecting prices; Farmacia San Pablo in Benito Juárez for the same reason; Cantina 'La Catrina de Regina' in Cuauhtémoc for not informing sales terms and conditions and not respecting them; Farmacias del Ahorro in Cuauhtémoc for not displaying prices and not respecting them; Parking at Oasis Coyoacán shopping center in Coyoacán for not communicating service terms and unauthorized roundings; Servicios Gastronómicos Dux in Azcapotzalco for expired products and misleading information; Soriana Store in Plaza Town Square, Metepec, for not informing prices; and Nueva Wal-Mart de México in Metepec for the same.

A suspension seal is a preventive measure that requires the establishment to halt activities until irregularities are corrected, protecting consumer rights. Profeco conducted 2,480 surveillance visits, placed 13,395 price tags, and distributed 3,396 consumer rights decalogues. It invites reports via Consumer Hotline (55 5568 8722 or 800 468 8722) or emails like denunciasprofeco@profeco.gob.mx.
