Trafikverket tildeler SJ kontrakt på nattog til det øvre Norrland

Trafikverket har tildelt SJ driften af nattogstjenester fra Stockholm til det øvre Norrland de næste to år. Kontrakten inkluderer også genindførelsen af direkte forbindelser til Narvik.

Aftalen løber fra december 2026 til december 2028. Den omfatter daglige returrejser på ruten fra Stockholm til Narvik via Umeå, Luleå og Kiruna samt daglige forbindelser mellem Stockholm og Umeå.

Rejsende slipper dermed for at skifte tog i Boden på vej til Kiruna, Abisko og Narvik. SJs administrerende direktør, Jonas Abrahamsson, understregede, at trafikken tjener en vigtig funktion for både svenske og internationale passagerer.

Trafikverkets generaldirektør Roberto Maiorana fremhævede, at nattogstjenester udgør en vital del af infrastrukturen og understøtter regional vækst og turisme. Nye tog er planlagt til levering i 2030.
