Das Bildungsministerium des Western Cape hat bestätigt, dass alle Schulen im Cape Winelands District nach den Schließungen aufgrund des schweren Unwetters in der vergangenen Woche wieder geöffnet sind.

Das Bildungsministerium des Western Cape gab am Freitag bekannt, dass die Schulen im Cape Winelands District nun wieder geöffnet sind. Mehrere Schulen waren seit letzter Woche geschlossen, nachdem Stürme Straßen beschädigt hatten und einige Gebiete unzugänglich machten.

Der Provinzialminister für Bildung, David Maynier, erklärte, dass sechs Schulen im Eden- und Central Karoo Education District aufgrund blockierter Zufahrtsstraßen weiterhin geschlossen bleiben. Bezirksbeamte und das Schulpersonal arbeiten daran, den normalen Betrieb wiederherzustellen.

Es werden Nachholpläne erstellt, um zu verhindern, dass Lernende aufgrund der wetterbedingten Störungen den Anschluss verlieren.

Heavy rains and gale-force winds from two cold fronts battered the Western Cape on Monday, leading to at least one confirmed death, widespread flooding in informal settlements, school closures, and disruptions to power and transport.

The Western Cape Department of Education says six schools remain closed in the Eden and Central Karoo districts due to damage from recent storms.
