Argentinien begeht ersten Todestag von Papst Franziskus

Die katholische Kirche in Argentinien hält am Dienstag in der Basilika von Luján eine Messe zum ersten Todestag von Papst Franziskus ab, der am 21. April 2025 verstarb. Die argentinische Bischofskonferenz organisierte um 17 Uhr eine Messe im Heiligtum Unserer Lieben Frau von Luján, die von Bischof Marcelo Colombo, dem Vorsitzenden der Konferenz, geleitet und von Kardinal Ángel Rossi sowie den Bischöfen César Fernández und Raúl Pizarro konzelebriert wird. Das gesamte lokale Episkopat wird in einer Prozession zu Ehren von Jorge Bergoglio einziehen. „Ein Jahr nach seinem Osterfest versammelt sich die Kirche in Argentinien, um in dankbarer Erinnerung an Papst Franziskus zu gedenken und das missionarische Engagement zu erneuern, das sein Pontifikat prägte“, teilte die Konferenz in einer Pressemitteilung mit.

Zu den Teilnehmern zählen Vizepräsidentin Victoria Villarruel und Kultusminister Agustín Caulo, während Präsident Javier Milei und Außenminister Pablo Quirno nach Israel reisen. Auch der Gouverneur von Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, wird nach einer Anhörung vor dem Obersten Gerichtshof anwesend sein.

In Buenos Aires finden ab 20 Uhr Veranstaltungen in der Basilika San José de Flores statt, begleitet von einer Messe unter der Leitung von Erzbischof Jorge García Cuerva. Am Obelisken wird der Satz „Nadie se salva solo“ (Niemand rettet sich allein) zu sehen sein. „Franziskus wird unter uns als der Mann bleiben, der er zu Lebzeiten war: ein guter Porteño“, sagte der Regierungschef der Stadt, Jorge Macri. Weitere Programmpunkte sind ein Wandgemälde an der Station San José de Flores und das Pflanzen eines Olivenbaums auf der Plaza Flores.

Bereits am vorangegangenen Samstag lockte der portugiesische Priester und DJ Guilherme Peixoto rund 100.000 Menschen auf die Plaza de Mayo, wo er eine elektronische Show präsentierte, die Botschaften von Papst Franziskus mit Musik verband.
