Der 21-jährige Weltranglisten-17. beendete das Match in der zweiten Runde nach 22 Minuten beim Stand von 4:0 für seinen Gegner. Er verspürte im zweiten Spiel Hüftschmerzen, ließ sich behandeln, konnte die Partie jedoch nicht fortsetzen. Der Franzose erklärte seine Entscheidung wie folgt: "Ich habe im zweiten Spiel einen Schmerz in der Hüfte gespürt. Leider musste ich kurz darauf abbrechen. Es ergab keinen Sinn, vor Roland-Garros Risiken einzugehen." Nach einer achtmonatigen Zwangspause aufgrund einer Rückenverletzung zwischen August 2025 und Februar 2026 war Fils mit einem Turniersieg in Barcelona sowie Halbfinalteilnahmen in Miami und Madrid stark zurückgekehrt. Roland-Garros beginnt am 24. Mai.
