Borlänge introduces new routines to learn from care deviations

Borlänge municipality's care and welfare services have introduced new routines and a team-based approach. The goal is to detect deficiencies faster and strengthen patient safety.

In spring 2025 a review of the care administration's deviation handling was carried out. Ulrika Sievertsson Nelzén, medically responsible nurse, examined all reported incidents. The purpose was to ensure the events had been known to responsible managers, investigated correctly and led to appropriate measures. The review revealed a need for clearer work methods and responsibility allocation. – It is important to say that this is development work where the purpose is to strengthen quality, increase equivalence and create better conditions for learning, says acting operations manager Buhar Agirman.
