Kim Hyo-joo pursues second LPGA major title at Evian Championship

Kim Hyo-joo will pursue her second LPGA major title this week at the Amundi Evian Championship in France.

Kim Hyo-joo won the 2014 Evian Championship at age 19. The event runs from Thursday to Sunday at Evian Resort Golf Club with a total purse of $9.1 million.

Ranked No. 3 in the world, she is the highest-ranked Korean player. She has two LPGA wins this season and added a victory at the Lotte Open in Incheon on Sunday.

After that win she said, "I got my feel back over the course of the Lotte Open. It gave me confidence that I can play well at the upcoming major."

Other Korean entrants include world No. 7 Ryu Hae-ran and 2019 Evian champion Ko Jin-young.

Ryu Hae-ran captured her first LPGA major title with a two-stroke victory at the 2026 KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

The 2026 Amundi Evian Championship begins Thursday at Evian Resort Golf Club in France. The LPGA major offers a $9.1 million purse with the winner receiving $1.365 million.

Choi Hye-jin and Kim Hyo-joo finished second at the Dow Championship in Midland, Michigan.

South Korea's Yoon Ina fired a four-under 68 in the second round of the Chevron Championship to climb into a tie for third place. At seven-under 137 overall, she trails leaders Nelly Korda of the United States and Patty Tavatanakit of Thailand. Yoon has focused on process over results to maintain composure.

Ryu Hae-ran ended the Kroger Queen City Championship in second place on May 17 in Cincinnati, Ohio. England's Lottie Woad claimed the title.

The third round of the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open is scheduled to begin Saturday morning at Riviera CC in Los Angeles. Nelly Korda moved to two under par after a second-round 67. Alison Lee and Ruoning Yin share the lead at four under.
