El Gobierno central notifica el nombramiento de cinco jueces del Tribunal Supremo

El Gobierno central notificó el lunes el nombramiento de cuatro presidentes de tribunales superiores y de la abogada senior V Mohana como jueces del Tribunal Supremo.

La medida sigue a una recomendación realizada por el collegium del Tribunal Supremo el 27 de mayo. Los cinco nombrados son los jueces Sheel Nagu, Shree Chandrashekhar, Sanjeev Sachdeva, Arun Palli y V Mohana. Se espera que presten juramento este martes.

El ministro de Derecho de la Unión, Arjun Ram Meghwal, anunció los nombramientos en X. La notificación amplía la fuerza laboral del tribunal a 36 jueces, excluyendo al Presidente del Tribunal Supremo de la India, después de que la fuerza sancionada se elevara a 37 mediante una ordenanza en mayo.

El collegium buscó equilibrar la representación regional, la antigüedad, el mérito y la diversidad de género. El ascenso de V Mohana es notable, ya que será solo la segunda mujer abogada promovida directamente desde el ejercicio de la abogacía al Tribunal Supremo.
