La comisión investigadora sobre las acusaciones contra el juez Varma presenta su informe al presidente de la cámara

El Comité de Investigación Judicial que indaga las acusaciones contra el juez Yashwant Varma presentó su informe al presidente de la Lok Sabha, Om Birla, el lunes. El documento sigue los requisitos estatutarios establecidos en la Ley de Jueces (Investigación) de 1968.

El juez Varma, del Tribunal Superior de Allahabad, renunció el mes pasado en medio de procedimientos de destitución. Dichos procedimientos surgieron tras el supuesto hallazgo de billetes quemados en su residencia de Delhi después de un incendio en marzo de 2025.

Un comité interno previo había determinado que el juez Varma tenía control, activo o tácito, sobre el almacén donde se encontraba el efectivo. Más de 200 parlamentarios firmaron una moción de destitución en julio de 2025.

El Comité de Investigación de tres miembros, creado el 12 de agosto de 2025, estuvo integrado por el juez Aravind Kumar, el presidente del Tribunal Superior de Bombay, Shree Chandrashekhar, y el abogado sénior B V Acharya.
