La commission d'enquête sur les allégations visant le juge Varma remet son rapport au président de la Chambre

La commission d'enquête des juges chargée d'examiner les allégations contre le juge Yashwant Varma a remis son rapport lundi au président de la Lok Sabha, Om Birla. Le rapport respecte les exigences légales prévues par la loi sur les juges (enquête) de 1968.

Le rapport sera présenté devant les deux chambres du Parlement et devrait être examiné durant la session de la mousson, prévue entre juillet et août.

Le juge Varma, de la Haute Cour d'Allahabad, a démissionné le mois dernier dans le cadre d'une procédure de destitution. Cette procédure faisait suite à la découverte présumée de billets de banque brûlés à son domicile de Delhi après un incendie en mars 2025.

Une précédente commission interne avait conclu que le juge Varma exerçait un contrôle actif ou tacite sur la remise où l'argent avait été trouvé. Plus de 200 députés avaient signé une motion de destitution en juillet 2025.

La commission d'enquête composée de trois membres, établie le 12 août 2025, comprenait le juge Aravind Kumar, le président de la Haute Cour de Bombay, Shree Chandrashekhar, et l'avocat principal B V Acharya.
