Demanda energética creció 6% en abril impulsada por manufacturas

La demanda de energía eléctrica en Colombia aumentó un 6,07% en abril de 2026 frente al mismo mes del año anterior, alcanzando 7.217,2 gigavatios-hora, según datos de XM.

El administrador del mercado mayorista XM reportó que el incremento se debió principalmente a las industrias manufactureras, que demandaron 843,4 gigavatios-hora, un 37,9% más que en abril de 2025. La explotación de minas y canteras también contribuyó con 747,3 gigavatios-hora, un alza del 33,6% interanual.

Por regiones, Chocó registró el mayor crecimiento con un 10,59%. Le siguieron Tolima, Huila y Caquetá con 7,64%, y Oriente con 7,39%. El Caribe lideró el consumo total con 2.094,26 gigavatios-hora, seguido por el Centro con 1.714,55 gigavatios-hora.

El consumo residencial y de pequeños negocios creció un 5,46%, mientras que el de industria y comercio aumentó un 9%. Los días hábiles concentraron la mayor demanda con 4.985,9 gigavatios-hora.
