La defensoría del pueblo solicita orden de arraigo contra Marcoleta y sus donantes

La Oficina del Ombudsman ha solicitado al Sandiganbayan que prohíba al senador Rodante Marcoleta, al excongresista Mike Defensor y a otras dos personas salir del país tras ser imputados por cargos de saqueo y delitos relacionados con una donación de campaña de 75 millones de pesos.

Además de Marcoleta y Defensor, el ombudsman también solicitó al Sandiganbayan que restringiera a Aristotle Baluyut Viray y Joseph Varias Espiritu mediante una orden cautelar de prohibición de salida del país. La solicitud ex parte fue asignada a la Séptima División del tribunal anticorrupción.

El ombudsman recomendó presentar cargos contra Marcoleta por violación de la Ley de la República 7080 o saqueo, el Decreto Presidencial N.º 46, que prohíbe a los funcionarios públicos recibir regalos, y por cohecho indirecto. Los investigadores señalaron que la cantidad superó el umbral de 50 millones de pesos para el delito de saqueo y no fue declarada en su SALN.
