Journalists who played four to five hours of The Blood of Dawnwalker at a preview event saw a time-limited RPG set in a vampire-ruled kingdom.
The game is developed by Rebel Wolves, founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Players control Coen, who has 30 in-game days and nights to rescue his family after he is partially turned into a vampire in the Vale of Sangora.
Time advances only when players complete quests or make choices, creating pressure without a constant clock. The prologue alone consumed half the allotted time for some players through activities like fetching medicine and sparring.
Combat features directional attacks and parries that open enemies for counters. Tomaszkiewicz compared the skill progression to Guitar Hero, noting players improve over time to execute impressive moves.
An Infamy system tracks actions against vampire lieutenants, while a Court menu shows relationships. Daytime play keeps Coen human, while nighttime grants vampiric abilities such as Shadowstep.
