Formula 1 manufacturers received initial ADUO results during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. Audi and Ferrari have already introduced power unit upgrades on track while the FIA awaits final verification requested by Red Bull-Ford.
All manufacturers learned their standings from the first ADUO period, which covered races up to the Canadian Grand Prix. Red Bull-Ford ranked highest in internal combustion engine performance and therefore receives no upgrade tokens. Mercedes qualifies for one token due to a 2-4 percent deficit, while Ferrari, Audi and Honda each trail by more than 4 percent and receive two tokens this season plus two more next year.
Red Bull-Ford asked the FIA to re-examine data, sensors and methodology because it sees no performance advantage over Mercedes in any sample. The factual verification began before the Barcelona Grand Prix and was expected to last seven to 10 days. Communication of the final outcome to Red Bull-Ford may occur after the British Grand Prix.
Audi ran an updated power unit at Barcelona and Ferrari will bring its first ADUO upgrade to Austria, with a revised turbo planned after the summer break. Honda has scheduled an upgrade around the break. These changes are permitted because the FIA’s initial private communication remains valid for teams confirmed to qualify.
The measurement method focuses only on the ICE and excludes electrical components and parameters such as Ferrari’s smaller turbo. Manufacturers agreed to this simplified approach in spring 2025.
