BI: Matatag na dami ng pasaherong bumibiyahe kahit digmaan sa Gitnang Silangan

Sa kabila ng patuloy na hidwaan sa Gitnang Silangan, inaasahan ng Bureau of Immigration na mananatiling mataas ang dami ng mga pasaherong international sa mga darating na linggo. Nanatiling matatag ang aktibidad sa pagbiyahe noong Holy Week, ayon kay BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado. Nagpatuloy din ang repatriation ng mga OFW mula sa Dubai, Lebanon, at Kuwait.

MANILA, Philippines — Nagpahayag ng pag-asa ang Bureau of Immigration na mananatiling mataas ang trapiko ng mga pasaherong international sa mga darating na linggo, sa kabila ng digmaan sa Gitnang Silangan.

Ayon kay BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, nanatiling malakas ang aktibidad sa pagbiyahe noong Holy Week mula Marso 29 hanggang Abril 5, sa kabila ng mga abalang dulot ng salungatan. Nagproseso ang mga immigration officer ng 782,344 pasahero sa lahat ng international ports, kabilang ang 391,243 arrivals at 391,101 departures—bahagyang mas mataas kaysa sa nakaraang taon na may 371,731 arrivals at 361,361 departures.

Para sa unang quarter ng 2026, naitala ng BI ang 4,218,683 arrivals at 4,521,001 departures, mas mataas kumpara sa 3,871,492 arrivals at 4,196,492 departures noong parehong panahon ng 2025. Tumaba ang paglalakbay patungong Gitnang Silangan ng halos 80 porsyento sa panahong ito.

Sinabi ni BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval na ang pag-asa sa patuloy na trapiko ay nakabatay sa pag-asa na mababawasan ang tensyon sa Gitnang Silangan upang makabalik sa normal ang international travel. Inaasahan din ng ahensya ang mataas na dami sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport at iba pang malalaking paliparan.

Samantala, nagpatuloy ang repatriation ng gobyerno, na nagdala ng 488 OFW at mga kaanak mula sa Dubai, Lebanon, at Kuwait noong Abril 14 at 15. Kabilang dito ang 125 mula Dubai noong gabing April 14 sa NAIA Terminal 3, 35 noong April 15 mula Dubai at Lebanon, at 328 mula Kuwait sa umaga. Dinala rin ang labi ng 20 Pinoy workers mula Kuwait, na tinulungan ang mga pamilya.
