House committee demands Instructure CEO testimony on Canvas hack

The US House Homeland Security Committee is calling Instructure CEO Steve Daly to testify about cyberattacks on the Canvas education platform that exposed data from millions of students and teachers.

The committee, led by Rep. Andrew Garbarino, sent a letter to Instructure seeking details on the two breaches by the hacker group ShinyHunters. The first occurred on April 29 and the second on May 7, allowing access to usernames, email addresses, course information and messages across more than 9,000 institutions.
