"So we’re expecting that all the personalities that we have subpoenaed, including the documents as well as other related pieces of evidence will be presented in the hearing and that includes Madriaga who confessed being the VP’s bagman," ani Ridon.

During its first public hearing on April 14, 2026, the House Committee on Justice issued a subpoena directing former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV to testify and submit documents in the impeachment probe against Vice President Sara Duterte. The move came amid testimony from self-confessed bagman Ramil Madriaga detailing rapid spending of confidential funds, with the Commission on Audit affirming a P73.287 million disallowance on Office of the Vice President (OVP) expenditures.

The possible testimony of alleged former bagman Ramil Madriaga could prove crucial in the two impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, a lawmaker said. Rep. Terry Ridon hopes it will clarify the identities behind bogus names linked to confidential funds. Madriaga is ready to testify before Congress or other bodies.

In the latest development in the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, Rep. Chel Diokno has requested transferring detained witness Ramil Madriaga—previously highlighted for his potential testimony on confidential funds irregularities—to the House Committee on Justice for protection and availability. The move follows the committee's finding that complaints are sufficient and includes subpoenas for Duterte's financial records amid prior calls for Madriaga to clarify bogus recipient names.

After wrapping up its first hearing on Vice President Sara Duterte's alleged bribery and misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds, the House committee on justice will focus on her alleged unexplained wealth at its next session on April 22. House committee on justice chair Rep. Gerville Luistro announced this following a press conference on Tuesday.

The House committee on justice issued multiple subpoenas on Wednesday in connection with impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, seeking her statements of assets, tax records and other documents from 2007 to 2025. The panel summoned key witnesses and records from agencies like the Ombudsman, BIR, SEC and NBI. Duterte did not attend the hearing.

The House public accounts panel and Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon have raised concerns over a potential conflict of interest, as two members of Vice President Sara Duterte's legal team in the ongoing impeachment proceedings could serve as witnesses in the handling of confidential funds. Ridon stated that including Michael Poa and Reynold Munsayac on the defense panel raises serious questions due to their direct involvement in issues surrounding the confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.
