The move came amid testimony from self-confessed bagman Ramil Madriaga detailing rapid spending of confidential funds, with the Commission on Audit affirming a P73.287 million disallowance on Office of the Vice President (OVP) expenditures.

In the latest development in the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, Rep. Chel Diokno has requested transferring detained witness Ramil Madriaga—previously highlighted for his potential testimony on confidential funds irregularities—to the House Committee on Justice for protection and availability. The move follows the committee's finding that complaints are sufficient and includes subpoenas for Duterte's financial records amid prior calls for Madriaga to clarify bogus recipient names.

Both impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte have been transmitted to the Office of the Speaker, House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil said on Friday. This occurred exactly one year after the Supreme Court struck down her previous impeachment as unconstitutional. Vice President Sara Duterte dismissed the new impeachment complaints filed against her by the Akbayan party-list, calling them politically motivated and linked to Sen. Risa Hontiveros' presidential ambitions in 2028. In a video message, she questioned Akbayan's credibility and described the efforts as harassment. Two complaints were transmitted to the Speaker's office on Thursday.

Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon stated that Vice President Sara Duterte's declaration of intent to run for president in 2028 is irrelevant to the House of Representatives' handling of the four impeachment complaints against her. Ridon emphasized that the House is focused on determining the sufficiency in form and substance of the complaints. The House committee on justice is set to begin deliberations tomorrow, March 2, 2026.
