Nagbubukas ng 1.2 milyong trabaho sa migrant domestic helpers ang Taiwan

Naglabas ang Taiwan ng bagong gabay na nagbibigay-daan sa mga tahanan na umempleyo ng migrant domestic helpers, na inaasahang kailanganin ng hanggang 1.2 milyong tahanan ang mga nanny at household service workers. Ayon sa Taiwan Ministry of Labor, maaari nang umempleyo ng foreign domestic workers ang mga pamilya na may hindi bababa sa isang anak na wala pang 12 taong gulang.

Nag-anunsyo ang Taiwan Ministry of Labor ng bagong patakaran na nagbubukas ng pagkakataon para sa migrant workers bilang domestic helpers. Layunin nito na tulungan ang mga working families sa pag-aalaga ng mga bata at household chores.

Itinatakda ang minimum na buwang sahod sa NT$20,000, na katumbas ng humigit-kumulang P40,000, at walang placement fee ayon sa mga regulasyon ng Pilipinas. Kailangang dumaan sa specialized training at basic Mandarin language instruction ang mga aplikante upang sumunod sa standards ng Taiwan.

Ito ay malaking pagkakataon para sa overseas Filipino workers, lalo na sa mga naapektuhan ng repatriation mula sa Middle East. Inaasahan na libu-libong OFWs ang maerepatriate sa pagtatapos ng Abril, ayon sa ulat.

Sinabi ni migration expert Emmanuel Geslani na handang-handa ang Pilipinas na magbigay ng workers dahil sa malaking pool ng experienced domestic helpers. “The Philippines has a large supply of experienced domestic helpers, and Filipino workers have an advantage due to their experience and English-speaking skills, which make them competitive in the international labor market,” aniya. Magtatagisan sila sa Indonesia, Vietnam, at Thailand, ngunit may kalamangan ang mga Pinoy sa English skills.
