Two Mandaue traffic enforcers suspended for violating traffic rules

Two traffic enforcers in Mandaue City were suspended after videos showed them breaking traffic rules, according to the head of the city's traffic agency.

Hyll Retuya, head of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue, said the agency acted after social media videos captured the violations. One enforcer was seen crossing a no-right-turn area using the gutter, while another held onto a jeepney while in uniform.

Both personnel admitted to the acts during due process at the agency's legal office. The enforcer clinging to the jeepney received a one-day suspension without pay. He had finished his shift in Subangdaku and gave up his seat to a female passenger.

Retuya noted that the agency imposes penalties based on the offense's gravity and maintains regular training for staff. Another round of training for field personnel is scheduled in June.
