Exodus shows paladin and immortal morality system

A new gameplay trailer for sci-fi RPG Exodus revealed a morality system with paladin and immortal alignments. The footage aired at the Future Games Show on June 6. Developer Archetype drew comparisons to Mass Effect while highlighting key differences.

The trailer offered nearly 20 minutes of footage from various locations in the game. Players select their alignment at the start, with paladins described as virtuous and immortals as ambitious. Decisions during play shift the alignment, including choices like talking through a confrontation or starting a fight. Game director Chris King explained rewards tied to alignments. 'There will be rewards that are only unlocked if you go all one way or another,' he said. 'But we also have rewards that are exclusive if you choose a hybrid philosophy there.' Paladin or immortal standings also affect persuasion and intimidation options. A time-dilation mechanic appears only on special deep-space trips. Narrative director Drew Karpyshyn noted the system builds emotional weight. 'There's always going to be a sacrifice, that's a big part of the game,' he said. Exodus is set for release on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in early 2027.
