Chinese automakers showcase innovative cars at Auto China 2026

At the Auto China 2026 in Beijing, Chinese firms like BYD and Geely unveiled advanced electric vehicles with up to 950 km range and fast charging. Some models could reach Mexico, though they target the Chinese market primarily. The US has blocked Chinese car sales.

The Auto China 2026, a major automotive event, featured new electric models and concept cars. Innovations include powerful motors, batteries up to 1,000 km range, and 10-minute chargers.

BYD showcased the Denza Z Convertible, a 1,000-horsepower supercar accelerating 0-100 km/h in under 2 seconds. Designed by ex-Audi's Wolfgang Egger, it aims to rival Porsche 718, per Bloomberg. BYD's Stella Li told Top Gear it will sell outside China from next year, without naming markets; Mexico plans the Z9 GT.

BYD's Great Tang SUV provides 950 km range, rear-wheel steering, and up to 536 horsepower. It garnered 60,000 reservations in 48 hours. Geely presented the Galaxy Light Concept for electric SUVs up to 1,000 horsepower.

BYD promotes Flash Charging, reaching 97% in 9 minutes unaffected by cold, planning 6,000 stations possibly in Mexico. Other concepts feature NIO ET9's mini kitchen and Huawei-BAIC Stelato S9's projecting headlights.
