구윤철 기획재정부 장관은 19일 미국과 이란 간 분쟁 종식을 위한 양해각서(MOU)가 한국 경제에 기회와 도전을 동시에 제시한다고 밝혔다.
구 장관은 이날 서울정부청사에서 열린 국제경제장관회의에서 이같이 말하며 정부가 장기적 기회를 창출하면서 경제 안보를 강화하고 공급망 회복력을 높일 계획이라고 설명했다.
그는 "중동 국가들과 재건 및 재정 건전성 개선 분야에서 협력 영역을 확보하겠다"며 "최근 분쟁으로 드러난 글로벌 공급망 리스크를 해소하겠다"고 말했다.
미국이 강제노동 제품 수입 금지 미이행을 이유로 60개 교역국에 10% 또는 12.5% 관세를 부과하는 방안을 제안한 데 대해 구 장관은 한국 기업이 불이익을 받지 않도록 미국과 무역 현안을 적극 논의하겠다고 밝혔다.
별도의 경제장관회의에서 그는 "중동 상황을 면밀히 주시하며 한국 선박의 호르무즈 해협 안전 통항을 지원하겠다"고 강조했다.
