양측은 미국 해양 산업 기반에 대한 외국인 직접투자 유치, 인력 훈련, 조선소 생산성 향상 프로젝트 등을 추진하기로 했다. 김 장관과 루트닉 장관은 무역협정에 따른 한국의 투자 프로젝트도 논의했다.
김 장관은 수요일 워싱턴 도착 후 관련 법이 6월 발효된 뒤 첫 투자 프로젝트를 발표할 수 있다고 밝혔다.
