현대자동차그룹은 7월 2일 남양연구소 미디어 투어를 통해 디지털 시뮬레이션과 자동화 기술을 활용한 소프트웨어 정의 차량 개발 현장을 공개했다.
화성 남양연구소에서 열린 투어는 6월 30일 진행됐다. 연구소는 운전 시뮬레이터, 디지털 측정 센터, 적층 제조 센터, NOVA 랩 등 시설을 통해 물리적 시제품 제작을 줄이고 있다.
정필영 팀장은 시뮬레이터로 주행 테스트 기간을 1~2개월에서 1주일로 단축했다고 밝혔다. 김상연 팀장은 와이어 카를 통해 소프트웨어 결함 150~200건을 사전에 발견한다고 설명했다.
현대자동차는 “디지털 기술로 개발 시간을 줄이고 품질을 높여 미래 모빌리티를 선도하겠다”고 밝혔다. 이 접근은 업계의 가상 엔지니어링 추세를 반영한다.
