허타오 혁신 허브의 1단계 사업에서 습식 실험실 건물 2개동의 임대가 완료되었으며, 5월 말 기준 약 90개 기업이 입주 계약을 마쳤다.
케빈 최킷밍(Kevin Choi Kit-ming) 혁신기술산업국 상임비서관은 토요일 해당 건물 2개동의 전체 공간이 사실상 모두 임대되었다고 밝혔다.
전체 입주 기업 중 중국 본토 기업이 51%, 홍콩 현지 기업이 35%, 해외 기업이 14%를 차지했다.
입주사 중 약 10곳은 상장 기업이며, 70%가량은 스타트업이다. 해외 입주 기업에는 한국, 스위스, 핀란드 기업 등이 포함되었다.
이 허브는 '노던 메트로폴리스(Northern Metropolis)' 메가 프로젝트와 록마차우 루프(Lok Ma Chau Loop)에 위치한 홍콩-선전 혁신기술단지의 일환이다.
Hong Kong's Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau aims to secure half of the HK$440 million (US$56.2 million) investment for a planned national innovation centre from the private sector.
