Boom Chick opens in Pensacola with sauced fried chicken

A new restaurant called Boom Chick has opened in Pensacola, Florida, specializing in customizable fried chicken at low prices. The eatery offers a wide variety of sauces and plans to expand soon. It caters to budget-conscious diners with late-night hours and drive-through service.

Boom Chick, located at 8710 Pensacola Blvd., opened its doors on February 6 under owner Jay Ni. The restaurant specializes in crispy fried chicken that customers can customize with a selection of sauces, including honey garlic, mango habanero, and Nashville Hot, as well as a rotating sauce of the month. Manager Lillian Ni highlighted the variety as a key feature, noting that the chicken is marinated and hand-breaded in-house before being tossed in the chosen sauce.

Beyond chicken, the menu includes burgers, sandwiches, and Philly cheesesteaks. Affordability is central to the concept, with a la carte options such as a single chicken breast for $2.49, a wing for $1.99, or a thigh for $1.99. 'We just want people to be able to have a comfort meal at a lower price without breaking the bank,' Lillian Ni said. 'Even if you have like $5 with you, you’re hungry, everything’s so expensive, you can come in and grab something for a dollar or two.'

The layout supports dine-in, drive-through, and carry-out orders. Hours extend until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, though the lobby closes after 10 p.m., shifting to drive-through only.

Owner Jay Ni plans to franchise the brand and has a second location set to open in March at 2100 N. Palafox St. inside Palafox Quick Shop. For updates, the restaurant encourages following on social media.
