Cientistas japoneses desenvolvem vitamina K aprimorada para regeneração de neurônios

Pesquisadores no Japão criaram novos compostos de vitamina K que são três vezes mais eficazes do que as formas naturais na conversão de células-tronco em neurônios. O trabalho, publicado em 2025, visa doenças que destroem células cerebrais, como Alzheimer e Parkinson.

O professor associado Yoshihisa Hirota e o professor Yoshitomo Suhara lideraram a equipe no Instituto de Tecnologia de Shibaura. Eles combinaram vitamina K com elementos da vitamina A para produzir 12 moléculas híbridas. Um composto, chamado Novel VK, destacou-se em testes com células progenitoras neurais de camundongos por sua forte capacidade de promover o crescimento neuronal.
