Ferramentas de madeira mais antigas são encontradas em sítio arqueológico grego

Pesquisadores identificaram as ferramentas de madeira manuais mais antigas já utilizadas por humanos, datadas de cerca de 430 mil anos atrás. Os artefatos foram descobertos no sítio Marathousa 1, na região do Peloponeso, na Grécia.

Uma equipe internacional composta pela Universidade de Reading, a Universidade de Tübingen e a Sociedade de Pesquisa da Natureza Senckenberg liderou o trabalho. Os dois objetos, um feito de madeira de amieiro e o outro de salgueiro ou choupo, apresentam marcas claras de corte, entalhe e uso. O estudo foi publicado na revista PNAS e estende a linha do tempo conhecida para tais ferramentas em pelo menos 40 mil anos.
