Ruto muda foco de Uhuru com ênfase em habitação popular

O presidente William Ruto destacou o programa de habitação popular após sancionar o Projeto de Lei de Finanças de 2026.

Espera-se que o governo do presidente William Ruto tenha gasto cerca de 220 bilhões de xelins no programa de habitação popular até o final de seu primeiro mandato, no próximo ano. Mais de 274 mil casas estão em construção e o programa gerou mais de 640 mil empregos diretos e indiretos.

O orçamento do setor habitacional aumentou de 64,2 bilhões de xelins nos últimos três anos da administração de Uhuru Kenyatta para mais de 102 bilhões de xelins nos primeiros três anos do mandato de Ruto. A previsão é que chegue a 138 bilhões de xelins no ano fiscal que começa em 1º de julho.

Ruto afirmou que o programa continua sendo um pilar fundamental da transformação econômica. Isso marca um contraste com o legado do ex-presidente Uhuru Kenyatta, que se concentrou em grandes investimentos em rodovias, ferrovias e energia.
