Sjukhuset i Ängelholm har lyckats minska köerna för halsmandeloperationer hos barn med hälften. Detta genom ett nytt grepp där undersköterskor utbildats för att assistera kirurgerna under ingreppen, enligt P4 Malmöhus på Sveriges Radio.

Satsningen har resulterat i att över 200 barn hittills kunnat opereras snabbare. Överläkaren Madeleine uttrycker stor tillfredsställelse: "Stort kompetenslyft för undersköterskorna och mycket glädje för barnen. Ett glädjeprojekt helt enkelt."

Vårdförbundet har dock kritiserat initiativet och menar att det sänker kompetenskraven inom vården. Sjukhuset betonar å sin sida att patientsäkerheten inte påverkats.
