Red Bull has switched back to its original rear wing design for the Belgian Grand Prix following two high-speed incidents involving Max Verstappen.
The team introduced its rotating rear wing concept, similar to Ferrari's 'Macarena' design, at the Miami Grand Prix in May. Verstappen crashed heavily during Austrian Grand Prix qualifying when the wing failed to close and later spun into the gravel at Stowe during the British Grand Prix.
Verstappen confirmed the change on Thursday, stating: "We'll go back on the old one and see when the latest one is ready again to be used." Red Bull is now working on modifications at its Milton Keynes factory to address what Verstappen described as a "dangerous" problem.
The FIA is reviewing the rotating rear wing designs used by both Red Bull and Ferrari. McLaren had also developed a similar concept but abandoned plans to test it after deciding further work was needed.
