Mahakama inawapa dhamana waandamanaji 12 kuwemo watoto wawili kwa maandamano ya mafuta

Waandamanaji 12, wakiwemo watoto wawili, walifikishwa mahakamani Nairobi Jumatano kutokana na kushiriki maandamano ya kupunguza bei ya mafuta. Hakimu Mkuu Mwandamizi Roda Yator aliwapa dhamana ya Sh3,000 kila mmoja. Kesi itatajwa Mei 7.

Waandamanaji kumi na wawili, wakiwemo watoto wawili, walifikishwa mahakama ya jiji la Nairobi Jumatano, Aprili 22, 2026, wakishtakiwa kwa kushiriki maandamano ya #RejectFuelPrices mnamo Jumanne. Walikuwa wakitaka serikali ipunguze bei ya mafuta.

Washtakiwa kumi wazima walikanusha mashtaka yaliyowasilishwa na Mkurugenzi wa Mashtaka ya Umma. Wakili wao, Ian Mutiso, aliomba dhamana akisema kosa ni dogo bila adhabu kali. “Washtakiwa wanakabiliwa na mashtaka kwa kutekeleza haki zao za kikatiba. Kwa wakati ufaao, nitapinga uhalali wa mashtaka haya,” alisema Mutiso.

Mutiso pia aliomba watoto wawili wawekwe katika kituo cha afya kwa uchunguzi wa umri. Upande wa mashtaka haukupinga ombi la dhamana. Washtakiwa wanashtakiwa kwa kuzuia kwa makusudi matumizi huru ya barabara za umma, kinyume na Kifungu cha 11(1)(a) pamoja na 11(2) cha Sheria ya Usumbufu wa Umma ya Kaunti ya Nairobi ya 2021.

Hakimu Roda Yator aliwaachilia kwa dhamana ya Sh3,000 taslimu kila mmoja. Aliamuru Mkuu wa Kituo cha Polisi cha Central awasindikize watoto hadi kituo cha afya kutathminiwa umri wao. Kesi itatajwa Mei 7, 2026, na kutengwa tarehe ya kusikilizwa.
