IPOA inachunguza utekaji nyara na ukatili wa polisi wakati wa maandamano ya Juni 25

Mamlaka ya Usimamizi wa Polisi Huru (IPOA) imeanzisha uchunguzi kuhusu madai ya utekaji nyara, mashambulizi na matumizi ya nguvu kupita kiasi wakati wa maandamano ya Juni 25.

IPOA inachunguza madai kutoka Nairobi na Mombasa ambapo polisi walitumia vizuizi, gesi ya machozi na vifaa vya sauti kuvuruga umati. Afisa wengine walivaa balaclava na kufanya kazi kwa nguo za kawaida huku wakibeba silaha na magari yenye namba zilizofichwa.

Taasisi hiyo imepata taarifa kutoka kwa wahasiriwa katika eneo la biashara la Nairobi wanaodai walitekwa nyara au kudhulumiwa. IPOA pia imetoa msaada wa kisaikolojia kwa waathirika kadhaa.

Maandamano mapya yameibuka katika Mathare, Huruma na Kariobangi North na kesi mbili za utekaji nyara na mauaji mawili ya polisi kuripotiwa. Jumla ya watu 355 walikamatwa nchini kote wakati wa maandamano ya Juni 25 huku angalau saba wakipotea kwa nguvu.
