Shirika la Wabebaji Kenya (KTA) limemwandikia barua Rais William Ruto kukiuka na kutoa malalamiko kuhusu ada ya maegesho ya Ksh4,000 ya Kaunti ya Nairobi. Wanadai ada hiyo inachukua asilimia 16 ya mapato ya lori moja kwa siku. Wanapendekeza ada ya Ksh800 ili kuboresha utii na kupunguza ufisadi.

Shirika la Wabebaji Kenya (KTA) limewasilisha ombi rasmi kwa Rais William Ruto, Gavana wa Nairobi Johnson Sakaja, Seneta wa Kaunti ya Nairobi Edwin Sifuna na Spika wa Bunge la Kaunti Kennedy Okeyo kuhusu ada ya maegesho ya Ksh4,000 kwa lori moja kwa siku huko Nairobi.

Kulingana na KTA, lori linalofanya usafirishaji ndani ya Nairobi linapata takriban Ksh25,000 kwa safari moja kwa siku. "Ada ya maegesho ya Ksh4,000 inachukua asilimia 16 ya mapato ghafi, kabla ya kutoa gharama za mafuta, mishahara, matengenezo, bima na madeni," walisema KTA.

Wanasema ada hiyo inawafanya wabebaji kuchagua kati ya kuishi na ufisadi, kwani badala ya kulipa rasmi, wanalipa rushwa ya Ksh1,000 kwa maafisa ambao haisikii hazina za kaunti. Pia, wanaalalamika kuhusu mitandao ya kigaidi inayodhibiti ada za maegesho, ikiharibu mapato ya kaunti.

KTA inalinganisha na kaunti zingine: Kiambu Ksh400, Mombasa Ksh700, Eldoret na Nakuru Ksh500 kila moja, na Bungoma Ksh300. Wanapendekeza Ksh800 ili kuongeza utii, kupunguza rushwa na kufanya Nairobi kuwa kituo chenye ushindani cha kibiashara. Wanajitolea kushirikiana na kaunti.
