香港癌症死亡率在过去四十年内几近减半

自1983年以来,香港的癌症病例增加了一倍多,但截至2023年,经年龄标准化后的死亡率已降至每10万人中71.1人,降幅接近一半。

1983年香港开始进行现代癌症追踪时,记录到1.5万例新病例,经年龄标准化后的死亡率为每10万人中136.7人。四十年后,2023年的新病例达到3.8万例,而死亡率则降至71.1人。

癌症仍是该年度的主要死因,夺走了近1.5万人的生命,占总死亡人数的四分之一以上。香港的死亡率远低于经合组织(OECD)每10万人191人的平均水平,也低于日本和韩国的水平。

专家认为,医疗水平的进步以及先进药物和治疗手段的普及是取得这一成果的原因。他们指出,筛查率低和发现过晚仍是限制预防工作进一步进展的因素。
