香港运输部门将在八月新规生效前,积极探索网约车数据的安全存储方案。此举旨在满足国家安全要求的同时,保护用户隐私。

运输及物流局局长林世雄周一向立法会相关委员会表示,工作的重点在于数据安全与国家安全。她表示,数据的存储、传输及备份必须在安全环境下进行,但未证实数据是否必须留存在香港境内。

运输及物流局副秘书长叶海英补充称,即将出台的规则将在网约车牌照中加入有关国家安全的条款。运营商必须将个人数据的使用限制在提供服务所需的范围内,并须事先取得客户同意。

考虑到数据涉及的规模,有关部门计划审查最安全的存储安排。相关法规预计将于八月实施。
