Ein Bundesrichter hat eine Anwältin dazu verurteilt, Nelly mehr als 67.000 Dollar an Anwaltskosten zu zahlen, nachdem eine Klage gegen sein Debütalbum als unbegründet abgewiesen wurde.

Ein Bundesrichter entschied am 28. Mai, dass Precious Felder Gates Nelly 67.586 Dollar für die Kosten erstatten muss, die durch die Verteidigung gegen eine Klage des ehemaligen St. Lunatics-Mitglieds Ali Jones entstanden sind. Der im Jahr 2024 eingereichte Fall behauptete, dass Nelly seine Bandkollegen bei den Credits und Tantiemen für das Album Country Grammar übergangen habe. Die Klage wurde jedoch im April 2025 fallen gelassen, nachdem Nellys Anwälte nachweisen konnten, dass sie außerhalb der dreijährigen Verjährungsfrist des Urheberrechtsgesetzes lag.
