Violence after PSG victory draws reactions and judicial update

More than 890 people were arrested after violence erupted following Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League final win against Arsenal. Political figures reacted and an initial judicial assessment was released.

Karine Le Marchand expressed her anger in a video posted on social media. She described those responsible for the damage as "casseurs" and "délinquants," adding that she had "nothing to do with their social origin" or "their ethnic origin."

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu asked his ministers to prepare texts so that social benefits could help finance repairs. He specified that this did not involve suspending the benefits but allowing civil recovery.

Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that 65 people had been brought before the courts. Six were placed in provisional detention and three were sentenced to firm prison terms, according to his statements on X.
